HALONA BAY (SOUTH SHORE)

EXPLORE SECRET FINGER COVES:
It's almost like each finger cove is a private box seat at the sports arena, except over here its completely natural and you have one of the most breathtaking views of the ocean you'll find anywhere. The finger coves  make for a great place to make a little private space of your own at the beach.

EXPLORE THE LAVA TUBE CAVE:
This tube is large enough to enter and you can actually see the “light at the end of the tunnel” which leads to its other side, going under the highway. Bring a flashlight with you and explore it. You'll have to crawl out on the other side but when you get there it feels like you're in another world.  This is a kid's favorite but adults will love it too!

.

This is an idyllic Hawaiian sandy cove. When calm, the cove makes for perfect swimming. If there’s a little surf, it provides good bodysurfing. Be careful when the surf is stronger.

You park at the Halona Blowhole Lookout 1 4/10 miles past (east of) the entrance to Hanauma Bay on hwy 72. Walk down the short, natural boulder stair-step near the road. If you want to make a more drastic entrance, the back of the bay has a tunnel to it. It starts from the mauka siade of the road and passes under the highway. (you havet o cross the highway and draw an imaginary line from the cove to the mountain) The first part of the tunnel is pretty low, but you’ll emerge rather theatrically into the cove.
